Can you inspire our pupils: volunteers are needed for a Careers event

Classroom scene with a guest speaker presenting to pupils, overlaid with dark blue panel and text “Inspiring the Future” alongside Swanmore College logo.

Last year we ran several very successful events called Meet the Employer where parents came into school and talked about their career journey. We're excited to announce that on Tuesday, 02 June 2026 we are looking at hosting a similar event for Year 8.

We are looking for volunteers (18+) to come into school and share their career journey with pupils. You do not need to have a specific type of job or follow a particular career path – what matters is giving pupils an insight into the different routes people take and the experiences along the way.

Volunteers can be parents, relatives and even coworkers. You would be with a tutor group whose tutor would be supervising throughout. Last year we were able to pair up guests, and each gave a short talk about their career journey, current or most recent role and then gave the pupils time to ask questions.

These events were really well received and made a lasting impression on our pupils.

If you are able and willing to help on this date we would love to hear from you.
Please contact us via careers-help@swanmore-sec.hants.sch.uk

Many thanks in advance for your support.

Pupil Road Safety

We ask that you please remind your children about the dangers of crossing New Road and other locations in the vicinity of the College.

A number of members of staff have witnessed pupils crossing roads, without checking properly, because they are on their mobile phones. In addition, children are walking out from behind the hedges at the Village Hall Car Park, without considering the possibility of a vehicle being nearby.

Thank you for your help with this important safety matter.
