It has been a positive week for sport at Swanmore College, with pupils representing the school in both cricket and netball competitions across Hampshire.

Last Wednesday, our Under 15 Cricket team began their season with a home fixture against Perins School in the first round of the Knight-Stokes Cup. The team made a strong start, delivering an impressive bowling performance to restrict their opponents to 88 runs.

While the fielding and bowling effort set a solid foundation, the team were unable to match this with the bat, falling short of the target and exiting the competition in the first round. Despite the result, there were clear positives to take from the performance, and the team will be looking to build on this as they prepare for their next match.

Y7 Girls Netball

On the same day, our Year 7 Girls Netball Team travelled to Embley Park School to compete in the County Finals. The Year 7 girls netball team pose together outdoors on a field, wearing blue and black netball kits with position bibs, with one pupil holding a netball at the front. This all-day tournament brought together some of the strongest school teams from across Hampshire, providing a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to challenge themselves at a high level.

In excellent conditions, the team played with determination and skill throughout the day, finishing 6th overall in the Plate competition. The standard of netball was high throughout, and the pupils represented Swanmore with great enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship.

We are proud of all pupils involved for their effort, resilience and commitment. We look forward to seeing how both teams continue to develop over the rest of the season.
