Where did power truly lie in the Middle Ages?
Overview
The focus here is on power, religion and everyday life across the Medieval Period. Pupils should have knowledge of the role of religion in society, the extent to which the Church challenged the power of the monarchy and the motivations of Crusaders. An understanding of the importance of Christianity in everyday life is crucial. There should be understanding of the comparison between rural and urban life, the impact of the Black Death and how Law and Order was kept.
The main UN Rights of a Child covered are Article 14 (Freedom of thought, belief, and religion).
