Dance Live!

Image shows the Dance Live logo in white against a turquoise, pink and purple background

For this activity, pupils will be taking part in Dance Live! This is a national competition in which hundreds of schools take part. If pupils choose this option, they can either be the performing cast (dancers) or tech team (which includes everything from costume/set design, screen sketching, lighting and filming our behind-the-scenes footage). The dance cast will take part in intense rehearsals which will develop not only their dance ability, but their performance skills enable them to gain experience working as a large cast. Attendance is the most important aspect of the rehearsal process and pupils who miss enrichment consistently will need to either have their role reduced or be asked to join the tech team.

If Swanmore are successful in their first heat, taking place in January/February, we will then be going to the finals in April/May. We would need to adjust every feature (rehearsals/changes to costume/lighting/props) before then. Therefore, the Dance Live enrichment will require a full commitment of the three terms, and pupils will not be able to switch options at any point through the year. If Swanmore does not win our first heat, pupils will remain in the enrichment for the remainder of the year and take part in various dance workshops, classes and activities to strengthen their skills. Again, pupils will be unable to switch options.

This activity will improve:

This is a 1-YEAR option. Pupils will not be able to choose any other options for the remainder of the year.
