Sessions are mainly made up of small-sided team tournaments, often 5 or 6 players per team, to maximise involvement and touches of the ball. Alongside the physical development of pupils, our sessions also focus on pupils' mental and social development and wellbeing. For those girls who impress with effort and commitment, we encourage them to attend after-school training in order to be considered for selection to represent the school.

JagTag - American Football
JagTag is an exciting, simplified, non-contact version of American Football created by the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL. It is played with ‘tags’, in a similar way to touch rugby.
The sport is available to all pupils of all ages and abilities. Pupils will learn basic American Football techniques such as throwing, catching, evading, and defending. As pupils gain more experience, they will eventually learn to create their own in-game tactics and plays. The sport is easy to learn, works with all shapes and sizes, and pushes pupils to work as a team and think tactically.
This sport is delivered in conjunction with Jaguars UK, the British arm of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts American Football Team.
There are exciting opportunities to get involved with the after-college JagTag team, which could lead to entry to tournaments and games against other JagTag teams. Some players in the UK have gone on to earn scholarships to university both in the UK and the USA.

Girls Rugby
We are looking to introduce a Year 7 and 8 female Rugby Enrichment activity into our Autumn 2026 Enrichment programme. This will be run by an external Level 2 England Rugby coach and mentor with support from Swanmore College staff with the aim of introducing a new generation of talent to the game of rugby. These sessions will be run initially in the T1 format.
T1 Rugby is the world's first non-contact format of rugby, designed to be inclusive and accessible for players of all ages and abilities. It captures the essence of rugby union, including scrums, lineouts, and breakdowns, while being simple to play. The game emphasises fun, fitness, and teamwork, making it suitable for us as a College. T1 Rugby aims to increase participation and engagement in rugby, particularly among young people.
The idea of the new group is to develop the skills and experience needed to play competitive rugby. Presently the ultimate goal of the group is to develop players to enable them to take part in the prestigious Rosslyn Park 7’s competition at the end of the academic year. This will either be as a school or as part of a wider pool of district players. Ultimately the group will be about team work, developing new skills, making new friends and having fun playing an amazing team sport.
