Board Games

Warhammer Club

We will explore how to create a visually impactful display, design a structure that will support itself, and learn miniature building techniques. The result will be a handmade miniature diorama that you have designed, painted and built yourself, which you can use in Warhammer or other tabletop games and to display your own miniatures!

For the Love of Books!

If so, this is the group for you! Whether there is a particular genre you prefer, or you are keen to read something new, we know you will love the chance to relax, recline and read. In addition, there will be activities for you to enjoy such as meeting an author or publisher, creative book art, making film trailers, quizzes and sharing your enjoyment of books.

Cinematic Sound Design (GarageBand)

Step into the world of movie magic and become a real-life sound designer! In this exciting club, you’ll use GarageBand to create epic cinematic music and unforgettable sound effects — just like the professionals who work on Hollywood films.

Ever wondered how movies make footsteps sound dramatic, doors creak eerily, or explosions feel powerful? That’s Foley — the art of creating everyday sounds to bring films to life. Using simple objects like paper, shoes, or even kitchen items, you’ll record your own sounds and transform them into part of a professional soundtrack!

Marvel Club

There will be a range of creative tasks and discussions across the term that will explore/challenge stereotypes in the heroes and villains of the MCU, with the potential to create a short film combining your knowledge and skills. There will be opportunities to develop this knowledge through the various Marvel TV shows and films that make up the MCU. Swanmore, assemble!

Esports

They will research professional Esports teams, exploring their strategies, branding, and success stories, before creating their own team.

Participants will hone their skills in popular games such as EA FC Club 25, Rocket League, and Fortnite, developing both gameplay techniques and coaching abilities. The enrichment aims to foster teamwork, strategic thinking, and leadership, while giving pupils a taste of the rapidly growing esports industry.

Comic Book Creation

During this enrichment, we will work on creating a short story, character concepts, composition and storyboarding, and finally creating a short comic book of your own. No art talent is required as all levels are welcome; all you need is the will to learn and to create.

This activity will: 

Give you the opportunity to make new friends, improve your literacy/creativity and art skills, work towards a deadline and find out more about the processes involved in creating a comic book.

Available to all year groups. 


Swan Life Press: Creators, Media and Design

Do you like telling stories, making videos, designing graphics or working behind the scenes to make things look great? The Swan Life Press team brings together content creation, journalism, media production and design to share what’s happening at Swanmore.

You’ll help tell the stories of College life by interviewing people, covering events and creating content that is seen by pupils, staff and the wider community. You’ll also learn how to present that content in eye-catching and professional ways. You can see work done by previous groups by clicking here.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Interview pupils and staff
  • Report on College events
  • Write articles and scripts
  • Record and present videos
  • Create and edit podcasts
  • Present confidently to camera
  • Take high-quality photographs
  • Choose and organise images, videos, audio and written work
  • Design layouts for digital and printed content

  • Prepare and post content for different audiences

You’ll have opportunities to learn how to use industry-standard creative software. Your work could appear on the College website, social media and in printed publications. You may also get the chance to work on content for external organisations and events, such as the Rural Schools Alliance, Swanmore Leisure and SwanFest.

You’ll work as part of a supportive team, combining creative ideas and design skills to produce exciting Swan Life content.

This team is perfect for you if you want to:

Build skills in journalism, photography, video making, presenting, writing, graphic design and digital media. You don’t need any experience – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you already have some skills, we’ll help you develop them even further.

This activity will improve: confidence, communication skills, technical skills, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration.

The Cinemaniacs

Are you always getting on your friends' and family's nerves talking about what you've been watching? Then join the Cinemaniacs! This brilliant enrichment opportunity gives you the chance to watch incredible movies with like-minded people. 

 

You'll get the chance to discuss the films you love, make recommendations for future screenings and even develop your own film making ideas! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the wonders of the big screen!

Wicked With Words

Wicked with Words is a creative writing club designed especially for KS3 pupils who enjoy experimenting with language, storytelling and new ideas. Every fortnight brings a different theme, challenge or writing outcome - there’s always something new to explore!

What we’ll explore:

  • Poetry
  • Songwriting
  • Twisted tales
  • Alternative endings
  • Different perspectives
  • Author appreciation
  • Storytelling
  • Word games and puzzles

Pupils will also be encouraged and supported to enter suitable creative writing competitions throughout the year such as ‘Young Writers’, ‘Hampshire Young Poets’, ‘HG Wells short stories’ and ‘Future Writers’

This is a quiet and reflective writing group that builds on creativity, courage, communication, empathy, constructive feedback and sharing ideas with confidence and respect. This creative writing group is open to Years 7, 8 and 9. This is a quiet, inclusive and writing-focused group where all abilities are welcome. Whether you already love writing or simply want to try something creative in a supportive environment, this could be the perfect club for you!
