Young Carers Action Day - this year's theme is ‘Fair Futures for Young Carers', a call to ensure every young carer has the same chances to learn, grow and thrive as their peers.
Did you know an estimated 1 in 5 pupils in every classroom could be defined as a Young Carer?
Young Carers Action Day is an annual event that raises awareness of the challenges faced by young carers. In 2026, together we will highlight the support young carers need to reach their potential, from recognition in school and access to training and employment, to meaningful breaks, wellbeing support and opportunities that help them build brighter futures.
In light of this, we have decided to support this charity, Winchester Young Carers, to provide a non-uniform day at Swanmore College on Wednesday, 11 March for all pupils.
We kindly ask pupils and staff to bring a voluntary donation of £1 on the day or pay on Scopay.
Please note that pupils will still need to bring their PE kit if they have PE that day, and if they have a practical enrichment activity, they should wear clothing suitable for taking part in that session.
British Science Week begins tomorrow, and Swanmore pupils will be diving into a week all about curiosity and big questions. Assemblies will explore this year’s theme, Curiosity: What’s Your Question?, using questions submitted by pupils themselves. A few will be chosen at random to be answered live, and there may even be a surprise in store...!
For Key Stage 3 pupils, we will also be launching a British Science Week poster competition, and families can look out for information about local STEM events taking place at the University of Southampton for those who want to explore science further.
We can't wait to see where our pupils’ curiosity take us.

Parents and carers are asked to help their child select their Enrichment Activity choices for the Summer Term. Swanmore College uses the online system School Buddy to manage enrichment selections. Pupils should choose five activities they would be happy to take part in. The College aims to allocate every pupil one of their five choices, as has been achieved in previous cycles.

You can view the full list of 53 available activities here:
Swanmore College | Enrichment Options
Selections should be made through School Buddy:
Schools Buddy Website
If you are new to the system, you will receive an email from noreply@schoolsbuddy.com to create your account. If you already have an account, simply log in and submit your child’s choices. Pupils already participating in Bronze Arts Award, Dance Live, Environmental Leaders, GCSE French, GCSE Spanish, or Spud Club do not need to make a selection as these run across the whole year.
📅 Deadline for selections: 09:00 Tuesday, 17 March 2026

Swanmore Parish Council has received several complaints regarding parking whilst dropping off and collecting pupils outside the college and surrounding area.
As you are aware, a no waiting at any time restriction (double yellow lines) has been implemented on New Road. This is to enable pupils to leave safely. Hampshire County Council parking enforcement teams intend to visit Swanmore on a regular basis to carry out enforcement.
Please do not park on the zigzag lines near to the College. These areas must be kept clear for the sake of our children. These are next to a very busy entrance/exit for the College and the lines are there to provide a clear area where children can cross safely. The zigzags are there to allow drivers to see pedestrians clearly.
We appeal to you not to park on residents' driveways or obstruct driveways and not to park across the drop-down pavements where children need to cross. If you are collecting pupils, please use the various car parks available to you in the village and be considerate to residents. Alternatively, you could plan to collect your child when the buses/cars have dispersed at 3:15 pm.

National Careers Week (NCW) is currently taking place until Saturday, 07 March 2026. This UK-wide celebration is designed to provide pupils with the guidance and resources they need to explore their future pathways with confidence.
The theme for this year is "Own Your Future," encouraging young people to take a proactive role in researching their career options. This week is the perfect time to explore the vast range of opportunities available.
How to Get Involved
Pupils are encouraged to use the NCW "Career Action Checklist" to stay on track:
Throughout the week, pupils can also access a Virtual Careers Fair, featuring interactive booths from top employers and education providers. This is a fantastic way to learn about different industries from the comfort of home.
For more information and to access the Virtual Careers Fair, visit: nationalcareersweek.com.

If you have any old glasses or spectacles that you no longer wear, we would be very grateful if you could donate them. We are collecting for a charity that will collect the glasses from us on Friday, 27 March 2026. They will then be sent to developing countries and distributed to people who might not otherwise have access to this invaluable item. Glasses can be dropped off at Visitor Reception, or you can give them to your child to hand in at Pupil Reception.
Thank you for your support.
