College Notices

Stranger Danger

One of our pupils missed their bus and was offered a lift to the College by a stranger in a car recently. The pupil refused this offer. We would like to reassure you that this incident has been reported to the police but feel this would be a good opportunity to remind yourselves and your children of some useful advice on safety. Should your child feel at all in danger during their journey to or from the College, they should go to a place of safety and call the police immediately. Likewise, if they report any concerns of this nature to yourselves, do inform the Police straight away by calling 101 or in an emergency 999.

Uniform Donations Required

We are currently seeking donations of Blazers, Ties, and PE T-shirts for our school Uniform Store. If you no longer require these items, your contribution would be greatly appreciated. The Uniform Store provides a valuable service to our school community by offering affordable, good-quality second-hand uniform and raising essential funds for the school. If you have any donations, please drop them in to our visitor reception.

Cutlery for Food and Nutrition

The Food department would be very grateful to receive any cutlery you may have at home, especially forks.  We seem to have a large number of forks going missing which pupils may be using to eat their food on the way home.  If you have any forks you do not recognize or need, we would be very grateful to have them in school. Thank you.

Reporting Road Traffic Incidents

If you witness or are involved in any traffic or road incidents in the vicinity of the college, you can now report these to us via a dedicated email address: traffic-incident@swanmore-sec.hants.sch.uk

This is only for specific incidents on college grounds or the area just outside it, so we can be aware and monitor if required. Anything of a serious nature should be reported to the police in the usual way.

Year 7

There are no specific items for Year 7 only.

Year 8

There are no specific items for Year 8 only.

Year 9

After the May half term Year 9 pupils will begin studying Animal Farm by George Orwell in their English lessons. This will be the first of the GCSE set texts they will study in preparation for their English Literature exam at the end of Year 11. To help them get the most out of the lessons, we strongly recommend that every pupil has their own copy of the book. This will allow them to highlight key quotes and make notes in class, which will be useful for revision. We suggest purchasing the Scholastic version for consistency, but any version is fine. Copies are available via Scopay, Amazon, in most bookshops, or second-hand at a lower price (ISBN number is 9780702306136).

Year 10

A reminder that the Year 10 parents’ evening meetings are taking place online this evening, Thursday 01 May 2025.

Year 11

If you have not yet purchased a ticket for the prom, the deadline for doing this is tomorrow, Friday 02 May. Please make payment and consent to the contract via www.scopay.com or return the contract and payment to Pupil Reception. Cheques should be made payable to Hampshire County Council with your child’s name, tutor and ‘Prom 2025’ on the reverse. Further information regarding dress code, arrival times, and other details will be shared in due course.

Community Notices

Important Update: SwanFest 2025

Unfortunately, SwanFest will not be taking place in 2025. This decision has been made after careful consideration due to the significant increase in the cost of securing music acts, which has made the event this year prohibitively expensive, and we want to ensure that the event is sustainable for the community’s future benefit and enjoyment.

SwanFest is a much-loved community event, and we understand that this news will be disappointing. However, we are committed to making sure it remains a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone going forward.

We are pleased to confirm that SwanFest will return in 2026, with the same focus on live music and family entertainment. We will announce the dates for 2026 as soon as they are confirmed.

Thank you for your continued support of Swanmore College and SwanFest. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2026.
