Swanmore College pupils recently had the incredible opportunity to step into the world of Hollywood dance, as professional dancer Richard Womersley, known for his role as a 'Ken' in the blockbuster Barbie movie, led an exciting and energetic workshop at the College. The session offered a unique insight into the vibrant world of professional dance, leaving pupils inspired and buzzing with excitement.
The atmosphere in the dance studio was electric as Richard Womersley guided our pupils through a series of dynamic moves and choreography, including some instantly recognisable repertoire from the Barbie movie. Pupils enthusiastically embraced the challenge, demonstrating fantastic energy and a real passion for movement.
Mr. Coleman, our dedicated Head of Dance, shared his enthusiasm for the event, remarking, "WOW! Who’d have thought that we’d have a real-life KEN teaching in our school?! Thank you to Richard Womersley for teaching some amazing rep from the Barbie movie to our very lucky pupils. They had a blast! Great job team, you’re Kenough."
Richard Womersley's workshop provided not only a fun and engaging experience but also a valuable chance for pupils to learn directly from a dancer with significant industry experience. His ability to connect with the pupils and share his expertise made for a truly memorable afternoon, fostering a love for dance and encouraging creativity.
Events like these are a testament to the diverse and enriching opportunities available at Swanmore College, offering pupils unique experiences that extend beyond the regular curriculum and bring professional excellence directly into our learning environment. The College and Dance Department look forward to continuing to provide such inspiring workshops for our pupils in the future.
