Cricket Success and Bouncebackability!

Image shows members of the Under 15 boys' cricket team who beat MountbattenOur U15 Cricket team showed incredible "bouncebackability" last Thursday, 12 June. After a tough Hampshire Cup exit to Thornden the previous day, they rallied to beat Mountbatten by 17 runs. What a fantastic display of determination!

On Monday, our U15 Boys Cricket Team travelled to Deer Park for a league fixture. Despite a valiant effort, our opponents were just too good on the day and secured the win. In a close game where both teams batted and bowled well, our visiting team managed to get a few more runs on the board and were the winners in the end. A good game, well played to all our girls.

Exploring Sports Careers at Solent University

The purpose of this visit was for pupils to experience what studying a Sports degree is like, as they participated in various fitness tests and activities. This was a great experience for our pupils, helping them consider their pathways for life after their time here at Swanmore.

Schools Takeover at Utilita Bowl

Image shows the T20 match at Utilita BowlOn Tuesday, the PE Department ran a fantastic trip to the Utilita Bowl in West End to watch Hampshire Women’s and Men’s teams take on Surrey in the T20 Competition. Swanmore College was part of approximately 35 schools who attended for the "Schools Takeover" event. Unfortunately, neither team won, but a good time was had by all. Mr Andrews and Miss Rudd even got to entertain everyone on the pitch during the interval of the Men’s game! A big thank you to Hampshire Cricket Board for organising such a great event.

Opportunity to Play Badminton Outside of College

There's a fantastic opportunity for Swanmore pupils to play Badminton outside of College! National Badminton sessions are starting in September at Bishop’s Waltham on Tuesdays, and the club is offering all new registrations a one-week free trial. The club expressed that it would be great to introduce the sport of badminton to some new players. If anyone has any questions about the sessions, you can find more information on their website: nationalbadminton.org.uk/hampshire.

Well done to all our pupils for their participation and achievements last week! We look forward to more sporting successes this week.
