To qualify, athletes were required to achieve a minimum jump of 5.35m. Finlay secured his place with a jump of 5.39m during the summer season, when he was only 12 and competing in the U13 age group.

Competing against six other athletes and being the youngest competitor by over a year, Finlay performed extremely well, completing six clean jumps with a best jump of 5.10m.

We look forward to seeing Finlay representing Swanmore College in athletics competitions this summer.

On Monday, the team travelled to Henry Beaufort School for their final District League match of the season, knowing that a win would put them in a strong position to secure the league title. The boys delivered an impressive performance, winning 4–1. Goals were scored by Jamie (2), Luke and Archie. Thanks to a significantly stronger goal difference, the result now places Swanmore in a very strong position to finish top of the league.

The following day, the team were back in action at home, hosting Mountbatten School in the District Cup Semi-Final. It proved to be a closely contested match between two strong sides, with the game finishing level at full time and going to a penalty shootout. Swanmore held their nerve to win the shootout and progress to the District Final, rounding off an excellent couple of days for the team.
