It wasa busy and successful Spring Term for Swanmore Sport, with plenty to celebrate across fixtures, competitions, and clubs.

Spring Term Sports Roundup: A Term to Be Proud Of

Looking back on the Spring Term, it was a fantastic period for sport at Swanmore College, with strong performances, high levels of participation, and some standout achievements across a range of activities.

Throughout the term, a wide variety of clubs ran consistently each week, with excellent attendance from pupils. Swanmore teams competed in over 50 fixtures, representing the school with commitment and pride. Football was a particular highlight, with up to four league titles within reach, reflecting the strength and consistency of our teams this season.

Beyond fixtures, pupils also took part in golf championships, while Cambridge National Sports Studies students successfully completed their climbing assessment. We were also pleased to secure sponsorship for new athletics vests, supporting the continued development of sport across the school.

A Strong End to the Term

The final week of fixtures provided a fitting end to a successful term.

Our Year 7 boys football team travelled to The Westgate School in Winchester for their final district league game, knowing that just one point would secure the league title. In an exciting and closely fought match, the team went 2–0 up before being pulled back to 2–2. Both sides continued to push forward, with the game eventually finishing 3–3. Showing great composure in the closing stages, the team held firm to secure the point they needed and confirm themselves as league champions. Goals were scored by Reuben, Tom and James, rounding off an excellent first season for the team.

Our Year 8 boys rugby team also rounded off their term with a home friendly against The Mountbatten School from Romsey. The boys showed clear progress, particularly in their tackling and rucking, and gave a strong, competitive performance throughout. A standout moment came from Joe’s try after some well-worked attacking play, followed by a confident conversion from Liam. Although the result did not go in our favour, the effort and work rate on display were clear to see.

Looking Back

The Spring Term has been full of positive moments across Swanmore Sport, with pupils showing determination, teamwork and a real enthusiasm to improve. It has been particularly encouraging to see both participation and performance continue to grow across all year groups.

We are very proud of all pupils who have taken part this term and look forward to seeing that momentum continue into the Summer Term.

Well done to everyone involved!
