Hampshire Cricket Hits a Six at Swanmore College!

Cricket coach from Hampshire Cricket Board speaks to a group of pupils on the school field during a KS3 taster session.

There was a real sense of energy last week as Swanmore College welcomed a visit from the Hampshire Cricket Board for a full day of Key Stage 3 cricket sessions.

Steph spent the day working with pupils during their PE lessons, introducing the game in a way that was accessible, active, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved. With sessions running for both boys and girls, all pupils had the chance to get involved, try something new, and build confidence as they went.

Two pupils practise batting with plastic cricket equipment on the school field, focusing on striking the ball during a drill.

The focus was simple: introduce cricket in a fun, inclusive way and give pupils a chance to experience the game first-hand. From batting and bowling basics to team activities, the sessions created an engaging and supportive environment for everyone involved.

With cricket forming part of our PE curriculum this summer term, the timing could not have been better. The taster day provided a great introduction and helped build enthusiasm ahead of further opportunities to get involved.

Alongside curriculum lessons, Swanmore College is also running cricket clubs and fixtures this term, open to both boys and girls. These sessions are a fantastic way for pupils to continue developing their skills, represent the school, and enjoy being part of a team.

We would like to thank Steph and the Hampshire Cricket Board for delivering such an enjoyable and inspiring day, and we look forward to seeing cricket continue to grow across the school this summer.
