Introduction to Sociology

Overview:

This unit acts as a taster trio of lessons to introduce Year 9 students to the basic principles of Sociology (which is a GCSE option choice) through the median of faith and belief.

Example keywords:

Sociology The study of society focusing on why people behave the way that they do because of what is around them.
Functionalism A consensus theory that argues society shares common norms and values.
Feminism A conflict theory that focuses on gender inequality and existing patriarchy.
Marxism A conflict that focuses on class inequality and how this reinforces capitalism.
