Year 8 Artwork on Display at Barnaby's Cafe

Visitors to Barnaby's Cafe in Swanmore can enjoy another stunning display of artwork created by Swanmore College's talented Year 8 artists throughout June.

Image shows nine pieces of colourful, framed artwork on display against a white brick wall. The paintings were produced as part of an art project inspired by the work of Vincent van Gogh. During the autumn term, pupils explored Van Gogh's landscape paintings, studying his use of directional brushstrokes and layered paint to create the illusion of form, depth and movement.

To develop their understanding of his techniques, pupils began by copying a section of Van Gogh's famous painting Starry Night. They then used black and white photographs of local Hampshire landscapes as the starting point for their own original artworks, applying the techniques they had learned to create vibrant, expressive paintings in Van Gogh's distinctive style.

The finished pieces showcase not only the pupils' creativity and artistic skill, but also the hard work and dedication they have put into developing their understanding of colour, texture and composition.

We are incredibly proud of the beautiful outcomes and delighted that members of the local community have the opportunity to see and celebrate our pupils' work.

Barnaby's Cafe, which is open every day except Sunday and Monday, is a valued community space and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to regularly exhibit and showcase Swanmore College artwork in their exhibition area.
