Year 10 Work Experience at Swanmore College
Work Experience Dates: 13–22 July 2026
Unifrog Logging Deadline: 30 March 2026
π· What is Work Experience?
Work Experience allows students to spend time in a real workplace, gaining practical skills, confidence and insight into future pathways.
Students benefit from:
- Developing communication and teamwork
- Experiencing responsibility and independence
- Learning about a career area of interest
- Building confidence in unfamiliar environments
- Strengthening future CVs, college applications and interviews
π· How the Process Works
(Student → Employer → Parent → School)
1οΈβ£ Student contacts employer
- Students identify an employer
- They email or call to request a placement
- Once the employer agrees, students log the details on Unifrog
2οΈβ£ Employer receives an email from Unifrog
- Employer completes their details
- Uploads insurance information
- Confirms tasks, risks, and supervision plan
3οΈβ£ Parent/carer receives an email from Unifrog
- Reviews the placement details
- Gives consent for their child to attend the placement
4οΈβ£ School receives all information
- Reviews employer details, insurance, and health & safety
- Approves the placement
β Nothing is approved until all three parties (student, employer, parent) have submitted their sections.
π· What Parents/Carers Need to Do
Please support your child by:
β Talking about possible placements
Shops, cafés, nurseries, garages, salons, offices, farms, sports clubs, etc.
β Helping them contact employers
Many placements reply quicker to parent emails/phone calls.
β Checking your email for the Unifrog link
You will be sent a secure link to approve or decline the placement.
β Providing transport arrangements
Ensure your child can get to and from the placement safely.
β Encouraging independence
This is a guided but student-led process.

π· Frequently Asked Questions
β Does my child need to know what they want to do for a career?
No — Work Experience is about exploration, not certainty.
β What if my child struggles to find a placement?
They should contact multiple employers.
If still stuck, the Careers Team can advise.
β Is there insurance?
Yes. Businesses must upload their Employee Liability Insurance certificate to Unifrog, and school only approves placements once checks are completed.
β Can they work with relatives?
Yes, as long as the employer meets health & safety criteria.
β Can they do multiple placements?
Yes, but all placements need to be added and formally approved through Unifrog.
