From league victories to county qualification and resilient performances in tough conditions, the final week of last half-term was a fantastic showcase of Swanmore sport.

Year 7 Boys Ruby

Despite a fixture cancellation, our Year 7 Boys Rugby Team still made the most of their afternoon on Monday, 09 February by splitting into two squads for a friendly match. The game finished 35–30 in a closely contested encounter, giving the boys valuable match experience and the opportunity to build confidence playing together. The extra game time will stand them in good stead as they prepare for their next friendly against Brighton Hill Community School.

The group is arranged in two rows, with some players kneeling at the front and others standing behind with arms around each other. They are wearing navy and light blue rugby kits, some slightly muddy from play, under a cloudy sky.

U16 Boys Basketball

Our U16 Boys Basketball Team made the short trip to Wildern School for a league fixture that proved to be another nail-biting contest. In an incredibly close game, the team secured a 66–68 victory. It was an outstanding collective effort, with special thanks to Reuben who stepped in at the last minute to support the squad. The result means the team now progress to the play-offs - a superb achievement and a testament to their determination and teamwork.

Year 7 and Year 8 Girls Football

On the football front, two girls’ teams travelled to Wyvern College to compete in a Secondary School Games 7-a-side tournament.

The Year 7 team performed admirably against strong opposition that included older players. They recorded one win and three draws, finishing fourth out of six teams.

The Year 8 team enjoyed an exceptional afternoon, winning every match without conceding a single goal. Their dominant performances have earned them qualification for the County Finals Tournament in March - a fantastic accomplishment.

Well done to all of the girls who represented the College so positively in very wet conditions. Their resilience, teamwork and attitude were a credit to Swanmore.

A brilliant week of sport, full of perseverance, teamwork and success. We look forward to seeing what the next round of fixtures brings!
