Swanmore College Year 11 Prom: A Night of Joy and Celebration for Our Pupils,

Swanmore College proudly hosted its annual Year 11 Prom, a spectacular evening of celebration and achievement for our graduating pupils. More than 200 pupils, alongside dedicated staff, gathered for a memorable night filled with music, laughter, and joy, marking the culmination of their journey at the College.

The evening was a resounding success, offering four hours of continuous music, a vibrant funfair, and endless dancing, creating an atmosphere of pure jubilation. Pupils and staff alike shared in the delight and excitement of this special occasion, celebrating their hard work and achievements throughout their time at Swanmore College. The glamour of the arrivals was captured beautifully, with 35 stunning photos featured in the Hampshire Chronicle and an initial 10 shared across our social media channels, with more to follow. These images perfectly encapsulate the spirit of happiness and camaraderie that defined the event.

In line with our established College criteria for attendance and behaviour, which is set in September of Year 11 and regularly reviewed and communicated to parents and pupils throughout the year, three pupils were unfortunately not permitted to enter the prom. One of these pupils also did not possess a valid ticket.

Regrettably, when attempts were made to prevent the escalation of the situation with these pupils and their families, advice from our exemplary security team led to the involvement of the police due to abusive behaviour. The security staff were outstanding in their calm and professional handling of the situation, even whilst receiving extreme and relentless verbal abuse, ensuring the occasion remained undisturbed for the majority of attendees. College staff present also managed the challenging circumstances calmly and appropriately, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to maintaining a positive and safe environment.

It is important to reiterate that the only emotions on the evening, shared amongst pupils and staff, were joy and happiness as we celebrated the achievements and successes of our pupils. This is a testament to the collective positive spirit that prevailed throughout the night.

We wish all our Year 11 pupils a happy, well-deserved summer break and look forward to seeing them on results day - Thursday, 21 August 2025.
