37 Hours per Week – Term Time only (39 + 1 week)
Mon – Thurs 8:00am – 4:00pm Fri 8:00am – 3:30pm

As our Pastoral & Family Support Officer, you will work as a key member of the school’s Pastoral Team, providing flexible and targeted support across attendance, family engagement, pupil welfare, behaviour and pastoral intervention.
The principle focus of this role will be to improve pupil attendance and reduce persistent and severe absence, particularly for pupils where family circumstances, wellbeing, behaviour or disengagement are creating barriers to regular attendance.
The successful candidate will also:
- Undertake planned and responsive home visits
- Provide additional cover as a Deputy Welfare Officer, supporting welfare needs of pupils at break and lunch
- Provide operational cover and support for Deputy Heads of Year
- Participate in the school’s On Call system as directed
- Deliver targeted interventions for pupils whose attendance, behaviour, wellbeing or engagement is creating a barrier to successful participation in school

There is an element of lone working and home visits with this role and these will be undertaken in accordance with the school safeguarding, risk assessment and lone working procedures.

Essential skills & experience:
- Experience of working effectively with secondary-aged pupils and families
- Experience of supporting children or young people experiencing barriers to education
- Confidence in managing challenging pupil behaviour
- Confidence in communicating with and challenging parents/carers appropriately
- Ability to deliver effective 1:1 and small group interventions
- Have an appropriate First Aid qualification (or undertake relevant training)
Desirable skills & experience:
- Experience of attendance, pastoral support, family liaison, youth work, welfare, behaviour support or a related field
