What is the Pupil Premium (PP)?

The Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools from Central Government funds to provide additional resources for any pupil who is:

  •  Currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)

  • Has been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years

  • Designated a Child in Care [Looked After Children (LAC)]

  • Designated a Previously Looked After Children (PLAC), including those adopted from care or supported through a Special Guardianship Order or Child Arrangements Order

Service Premium

Schools also receive Service Premium, which is additional funding for pupils who have a parent or carer currently serving in the Armed Forces.

This funding recognises that service families may experience additional challenges, such as mobility or parental deployment, and helps schools provide appropriate support. For further information, click here: Service Pupil Premium Support

Supporting Every Pupil

In some cases, the College may also use Pupil Premium funding to support pupils who we believe may be socially disadvantaged or vulnerable, even if they do not formally meet the criteria above.

Pupil Premium funding helps us remove barriers to education and make sure every child can access the support they need to reach their full potential. By potential, we mean being ready for life beyond Swanmore, whether that is progressing to further education, starting an apprenticeship, entering employment, or simply leaving school as a confident, capable and fulfilled member of society.

Our aim is simple: to ensure that every pupil at Swanmore can thrive, both in school and beyond.
