GCSEPod – English at Swanmore College

Swanmore College uses GCSEPod to support pupils with their GCSE English studies, both in lessons and at home.

GCSEPod is an online learning and revision platform that provides access to over 7,500 short Pods (3–5 minute videos). These are designed to make learning clear, focused and manageable. All content is matched directly to the AQA GCSE specifications and can be accessed on mobile phones, tablets and computers.

Alongside the videos, GCSE Pod also offers:

  • Self-marking quizzes with instant feedback

  • Advice on how to improve scores

  • Downloadable workbooks to support independent study

GCSEPod is used regularly in English lessons, and teachers may also set homework using the platform. Pupils are encouraged to use GCSEPod regularly to support their independent revision.

Pupils should access the following areas:

English Language

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Spelling, punctuation and grammar

English Literature, including

  • The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

  • Macbeth

  • Animal Farm

  • Power and Conflict Poetry

  • Unseen Poetry

Using GCSEPod at home

Pupils should log in using their school email address. Regular, short revision sessions are recommended, rather than long periods of study.

Parents and carers can support learning by:

  • Encouraging regular use of GCSEPod

  • Talking with pupils about what they have learned from the Pods and quizzes

  • Supporting the use of downloadable workbooks where helpful
