Swanmore Sports Weekly Roundup: w/c 12 January 2026

It has been an active start to the term, with our pupils demonstrating fantastic spirit and a commitment to high standards in their sporting pursuits.
Resilient Performance from Year 10/11 Girls Football Team

Our Year 10/11 girls’ football team showed real grit this week in a tough district league match against Westgate School.
Playing at home on our STP (Synthetic Turf Pitch), the girls took on a strong side despite being short of a few regular players. This meant welcoming some of our U14 girls into the squad — a great chance for them to step up and gain experience.
Despite not winning, the effort on the pitch was something to be proud of. From start to finish, the team worked hard, stayed positive, and kept battling together right to the final whistle.
Matches like these are vital for building independent, confident young adults. We are incredibly proud of how all the girls represented the College.
Update: U16 Boys Volleyball Fixture
There was some disappointment for our U16 Boys Volleyball team last week, as their scheduled fixture against Portchester unfortunately had to be cancelled.
While it is always a shame when a match cannot go ahead, our pupils have remained positive and continue to show a great 'can-do' attitude during their training sessions at the College. We know how much the team was looking forward to this extra-curricular challenge, and we share their hope that the game can be rescheduled.
Important PE Kit Reminder for the New Year
Happy New Year! As we settle back into a new term, the chilly mornings have certainly been a reminder of how important it is for our pupils to be wrapped up and ready for their outdoor PE lessons.
Even though we’re in the middle of the school year, January always feels like a great time for a fresh start. With that in mind, and looking ahead to the 2025/26 academic year, we wanted to share a quick, friendly reminder about our PE kit expectations.
To keep everyone looking their best and part of the same team, please remember:
-
Keep it simple: PE kit should be free from any big, prominent logos.
-
No hoodies, please: Hooded tops are no longer on our official kit list.
- Wednesday Enrichment: Just a reminder that these same rules apply for our practical Enrichment sessions on Wednesday afternoons.
We really appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain these high standards. Our goal is to make sure every pupil feels ready to get involved, stay active, and really thrive at the College—even in the middle of winter!
Looking Ahead
As the term gets fully underway, we are looking forward to many more exciting fixtures in the weeks ahead. We remain committed to providing these enriching extra-curricular activities to help all our pupils thrive and reach their full potential. This week we have plenty of action coming up, from U16 Girls Volleyball, Year 7/8 District Cross Country and fixtures for our U14 and U16 girls netball. Good luck to all pupils involved!
