  • Thursday 13 November 2025 – Fareham College
  • Wednesday 19 November 2025 CEMAST & CETC (only open day this academic year)
  • Thursday 20 November 2025 – Southampton College
  • Tuesday 25 November 2025 – Eastleigh College

This is a unique chance to hear directly from serving soldiers who will answer the questions people don't usually ask, covering everything from daily life and career options to busting common myths. The first episode, "What does the Army do?", takes place on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, from 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM. You'll explore the Army's core roles (defence, peacekeeping, humanitarian) and have the opportunity to ask your questions live for real-time, honest answers.

Mission Innovation: Explore the STEM World of Defence and Technology!

Are you aged 14-19 and fascinated by STEM, cutting-edge technology, and innovation?

Join QinetiQ, a leading global defence and security company, for a dynamic, online work experience program during the February half-term (9:30 am - 3:00 pm on 16-18 February 2026).

Discover how science meets serious innovation as you explore the world of high-tech projects, from drones and robotics to advanced security systems. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early application is essential!

Careers support and information at Swanmore College

Essential Support for Year 11 College Applications

The Careers team is pleased to offer dedicated drop-in sessions every Wednesday during Connect time to help Year 11 pupils successfully navigate their college applications. These sessions, held in W02, are designed to help pupils with their college applications and any problems with applying. 

The schedule is as follows:

  • 19 & 26 November 2025: Peter Symonds Applications
  • 03 December 2025: Barton Peveril Applications
  • 10 December 2025: SHCG Colleges (Eastleigh, Fareham, CMAST, CETA & Southampton)
  • 17 December 2025: All other Colleges

A note for parents/guardians: By attending a session, we will assume your consent for your pupil to apply to that specific college and courses. If you do not give permission for your pupil to apply to a particular college, please ask them not to attend that session.

Unifrog – Important Information for Parents of Year 8-11 pupils

This valuable resource is designed to help you support your child as they explore their future pathways, careers, and higher education options. By linking your account directly to your child's profile, you can easily view key information such as their next suggested tasks, upcoming placements, and teacher notes, plus access dedicated parent resources.

To get started, we first need your permission to add your email address to your child's profile on Unifrog. Please complete this short Google Form to provide your consent: https://forms.gle/AQZPq4cCNL66FvzU9. Once added, you will receive instructions to set up your account on the Parent Log In page: Parent - Unifrog.

We highly encourage you to take advantage of this fantastic tool!

SETA Engineering Apprenticeship Jobs Fair – Tuesday 10 February 2026 5-7pm

This event is aimed at Year 11 pupils, college and Uni leavers. Arrival time is either 5 pm or 6 pm at SETA Apprenticeship Centre, Millbrook, Southampton SO15 0LJ.

All employers will have vacancies starting in September 2026.

It may be a long time until this event, but it is important to apply now as places are filling up fast! Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Steve Willis Training Centres – Apprenticeship Open Days

For pupils interested in careers in the gas, plumbing or electrical industry. Steve Willis is running 3 different level 3 apprenticeships in Gas Engineering Operative, Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician and Installation and Maintenance Electrician.

Steve Willis Training Centres are holding apprenticeship open days at their Portchester site on:

  • Saturday 15 November 2025: 09:00 – 13:00
  • Tuesday 17 February 2026: 15:00 – 19:00
