Swanmore Sports Weekly Roundup: w/c 12 May 2025

Another busy week of sporting events and successes for Swanmore College, with our pupils showcasing their talents across a variety of sports.
Tennis
Last Friday afternoon (09 May), our Year 9/10 Girls'' Tennis team hosted Boundary Oak School in an LTA Youth Schools Tennis League fixture. The girls played a combination of singles and doubles matches and emerged victorious, demonstrating some fantastic tennis skills. Well done, girls!
Our Year 7/8 Boys' Tennis team were also in action on Monday against Boundary Oak School in an LTA Youth Schools Tennis League match. The conditions were perfect for tennis, and the team played exceptionally well, winning 5 out of 6 games to secure the win. Well played, boys! ððŧðū
The Year 7/8 Boys' Tennis team continued their winning streak this week with a dominant display against Meoncross School in another LTA Youth Schools Tennis League fixture, winning all their games. Well played, boys!
It was also great to see so many pupils at the KS3 Tennis Club on Tuesday. Please note that the club will move to Wednesday next week but will return to its usual Tuesday slot after half-term.
Swimming
We want to give a big shout-out to Year 10 GCSE PE pupil William, who achieved recent success at the South East Regional Swimming Championships at High Wycombe.
William qualified for the championships in the 200m freestyle, 200m IM, 100m and 50m freestyle, 100m and 50m butterfly, and 100m and 50m breaststroke events. He reached the finals in an impressive 5 of these events, setting new personal bests in 6 and putting him in contention to qualify for the English and British national events this summer.
William achieved a Silver medal in the 50m butterfly and a Bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement! ððŧððž
Athletics
On Tuesday, we attended the U15 Athletics Track Knockout Competition at Oaklands School. This was Round 1, and our teams competed strongly in their bid to qualify for Round 2. Unfortunately, the boys' team narrowly missed out on qualification, but our girls' team qualified by finishing 3rd overall. Well done to all the pupils who competed.
Last Friday, some of our Year 7 and 8 athletes travelled to Winchester to participate in a district school track meet. Our pupils performed exceptionally well, with the boys winning the relay, several sprint victories, and Lucy winning the 600 metres race. Great work, Team Swanmore! ðĶĒ
