Watch: Children’s Rights in Action at Swanmore

Just before the Christmas break, Swanmore College was full of curiosity and conversation as a group of our Year 8 pupils took part in a special, rights-based activity.
The UNCRC Swanmore Treasure Hunt
The UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) Treasure Hunt offered pupils an interactive journey around the College, encouraging them to explore how children’s rights are lived, protected and championed across our College community. This fantastic video, filmed and edited by Year 8 pupil Brooke P, gives us an exciting glimpse into how the event unfolded.
Moving between classrooms and shared spaces, pupils uncovered real-world examples of the UNCRC in action, including respect, participation, safety, inclusion and the right to learn in an environment where every young person is valued.
Throughout the activity, pupils shared thoughtful and honest reflections, demonstrating a strong understanding of how these rights shape their experiences at Swanmore. They approached the treasure hunt with energy, curiosity and leadership, engaging positively with the messages and showing confidence in expressing their views.
At Swanmore College, we don’t just talk about children’s rights — we live them, every day.
