What is life really like behind the doors of Westminster? This week, Swanmore College pupils didn't just ask the questions—they filmed their own answers.

Pupil Voices Take Centre Stage Following MP Visit to Swanmore College

Following a high-energy visit from Paul Holmes MP, Swanmore College has released a video of candid interviews produced by Swan Life Press, a pupil-led content creation enrichment activity that celebrates life at Swanmore. Filmed and edited by Swanmore pupil Dylan T (Y10), the video captures members of the Rights Respecting Group and the Politics Club offering their immediate reflections following the event.

Politics Through a Pupil Lens

The interviews highlight a generation that is anything but passive. Pupils share their views on the day-to-day realities of being an MP and reflect on the “honest and wide-ranging” discussion they held with Mr Holmes. The reporting itself showcases pupils’ ability to listen, challenge, and communicate key messages with confidence and clarity.

Rights in Action

The visit was more than a political lesson; it was a practical example of Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the right of every child to express their views freely on matters that affect them. Pupils were not only part of the discussion but took ownership of how the story was told.

From exploring how Parliament functions to considering how laws impact life in Swanmore, the pupil-led reporting makes one thing clear: politics isn’t just for adults - it’s a conversation that Swanmore pupils are actively shaping and sharing.
