Advanced woodworking

Overview

Using the woodworking techniques learnt and developed in year 7 and 8, pupils will design and develop a product to solve a design brief.

Design Brief

A statement that explains what you need to design and make.

Design Specification

A list of requirements that a product needs to meet to be successful.

Initial Design Ideas

These are a set of first designs/sketches which show how a design brief could be solved.

Modelling

A process where a design is made in card to check its size and features.

Existing Product Research

Research that is undertaken to see what products already solve the design brief.

Development

A stage where the final design is refined and final changes made.
