Pupils Shine at Solent Model United Nations 2026

Our pupils recently showcased their diplomatic prowess at the 3rd Annual Solent Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, hosted by Kings Academy Bay House School and Sixth Form. Representing the College with distinction, nine of our pupils joined over 70 others from 7 different schools across the region to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Solving Global Problems

The conference, which is typically a university-level event, challenged pupils to roleplay as representatives of different nations. Our delegates stepped into the shoes of various countries, engaging in robust and occasionally adversarial debates across five key UN Committees:

  • The Security Council
  • The Human Rights Council
  • The Environment Programme
  • The Economic and Social Council (EcoSoc)
  • The Women’s Council

From discussing the crisis in Venezuela to debating the global gender pay gap and the ethics of the death penalty, our pupils demonstrated incredible research skills and political engagement.

Award-Winning Diplomacy

While all our delegates debated brilliantly, two pupils received special recognition for their exceptional contributions:

  • Neev K (Year 10) was voted Best Delegate on the Security Council.

  • Lexi H (Year 10) received a Special Commendation for her performance.

Miss Light, who organised our delegation, praised the group's efforts:

"It was a really challenging and daunting event, but our pupils courageously stepped up. Seeing them engage with such complex political topics with peers their own age was truly inspiring."
