Swanmore College recently welcomed the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary to lead vital assemblies for our Year 8 and Year 9 pupils.

Knife Crime Awareness Assemblies – helping pupils make safe choices

Over the past two weeks, Swanmore College has welcomed a Police Constable from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary into school to deliver knife crime awareness assemblies for our Year 8 and Year 9 pupils.

The assemblies were designed to help pupils develop a clear understanding of the law around carrying knives, as well as the very real risks and consequences associated with knife crime. The officer led both sessions, sharing information in an age-appropriate and accessible way, and encouraging pupils to think carefully about the choices they make and how these can affect themselves and others.

The sessions were interactive throughout, with pupils responding to questions and engaging with the key messages being discussed. This approach helped reinforce important learning in a way that was informative, practical and relevant to young people.

At Swanmore, we are committed to looking after the "whole child," ensuring that our learners are equipped with the vital tools they need to thrive both academically and healthily as they grow into independent adults. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the visiting officer for their time and expertise in supporting our ongoing mission to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil feels valued and safe.
