PSHE Festive Activities – A January review of our pupils' Christmas kindness

Image shows a festive red background with 6 images of pupil crafts or activities and text reading PSHE Festive Activities in white.

As we settle back into school life after the Christmas break, we wanted to pause and reflect on the many thoughtful ways our pupils chose to support others during the festive season.

Year 7 - Charity Christmas stalls

As a Tutor Group, Year 7 pupils designed and ran a stall to raise money for UNICEF. They came up with an idea, created the stall, had a rota to supervise the stall and visited those of the other Tutor Groups. Each stall asked for a small financial donation that was sent to UNICEF. They still took part even if they didn't have change as contributions were voluntary. Overall, our Year 7 pupils raised an incredible £137.56!

Year 8 – Christmas Cards

Our Year 8's created Christmas cards to send festive wishes to residents in local nursing homes. Nursing homes in the local area were contacted, and the residents were very excited to receive their cards from Swanmore pupils. A wonderful way of spreading kindness and joy at Christmas.

Year 9 – Food donations and cards for Meon Valley Food Bank

Pupils from Year 9 decorated a box, filled it with non-perishable food items and toiletries, and made Christmas cards for our local community. Mrs Kindleysides delivered the box to Meon Valley Food Bank before Christmas. This was a fantastic effort to support the local community.

Year 10 – Positivity Posters

Our creative Year 10 pupils crafted A3 posters in groups. Each poster was filled with Christmas cheer and positivity for our community service workers who were on call over the festive period. A thoughtful way to appreciate anyone who was working over Christmas.

This image shows a hand-made poster featuring the word "Thanks" in large blue letters. At the bottom of the poster is an image of a nurse, a police officer and a snowman.
