Absence due to Illness
Please see the link below for advice on common illnesses and when it is advisable to keep your child at home and when it is safe for them to return to college:
College Discretionary Fund
The Household Support Fund has been extended for the 2023-24 financial year by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to support those most in need with the significant rising cost of living. They have given schools, colleges and early years settings a one-off discretionary grant to support low-income households with children.
If you are in urgent or immediate need of help with household essentials, including:
· Energy and Water bills - a set amount is available
· Food - a set amount is available
· Sanitary & hygiene products - e.g. products for your and your family's personal hygiene, keeping your clothing and home clean
· Contribution towards the cost of school uniforms, if you're struggling to afford items (if your child is eligible for free school meals and/or Pupil Premium, they have an annual uniform allowance of £100 every financial year - this contribution is in addition to this allowance)

WYC Wellbeing Walk-In
Winchester Youth Counselling are launching a new wellbeing walk-in clinic on Wednesday 31 January 2024. Led by BACP registered counsellors, the new drop-in service will aim to provide an early intervention service that offers mental health support to young people aged 11-25yrs, before they reach a point where they cannot cope. The drop-in service will be a place young people can access by themselves to talk about how they are feeling, to take part in mindful activities, discover ways to improve their wellbeing and learn about local mental health support services. No need for appointments, referrals or waiting lists, and it's FREE! Please see attached flyer for details.
PE Clubs & Fixtures
Please see attached details of all the PE clubs and fixtures that are taking place this week.
Mobile Phones & Electronic Devices
We would like to remind you that the College's position regarding these items is as follows:
1. Mobile phones & electronic devices cannot be visible anywhere on the College site between the hours of 8.00am and 3.30pm
2. Mobile phones & electronic devices must be turned off and kept out of sight and may only be used with the permission of a member of staff
3. If a mobile phone or electronic device is seen, it will be confiscated by a member of staff and a parent/carer will have to collect it from Visitor Reception after 3.15pm
4. Refusal to hand over a mobile phone or electronic device to a member of staff will result in a pupil being sent to the Learning Hub
After 3.30pm, mobile phones may be used. We ask that parents/carers do not telephone or text pupils during the hours of 8.00am and 3.30pm as this will clearly cause them a problem. We hope that this is very clear and that the sanction for those who ignore this rule is straight forward. If a mobile phone or electronic device is visible between the hours of 8.00am and 3.30pm, anywhere on the College site, then it will be confiscated.
