Last year, our House captain was kind enough to take the time to contact SPA (Swanmore Parents’ Association) to ask if they could donate money. This will allow us to brighten up our school with plant bulbs which will grow in spring/summer 2012.
After asking for volunteers, several members of Whittle decided to help with the project.  We went to A01 during P5, and collected some bulbs from Mrs Franklin, before planning where we were going to place them. After collecting the tools from the gardening shed the group went outside to the plant bed just outside A Block.
We then planted the bulbs after removing all the weeds. Some people may think that gardening is for ‘old people’ however, we have found that this has been a great team building exercise; we have made new friends and become more aware of the environment. We all hope that many pupils will experience the joys of the gardening society next year and in the future.
