Swanmore Sporting Network

Sports Partnership is about utilising PE and Sport to raise the attainment and achievement of young people. Our aim is to create more opportunities for more young people to participate, perform and lead/volunteer in PE and School Sport.

Overall Aims

  • All children, whatever their circumstances or abilities, should be able to participate in and enjoy PE and sport
  • Raise standards across the whole school e.g. confidence, self esteem, attitude, motivation, attendance, behaviour etc
  • Improve children’s health
  • Have personal success in activity
  • Achieve success at higher levels of competition

Young Ambassadors

The Young Ambassador programme seeks to develop young leaders and volunteers further by providing them with the responsibility of being an ambassador of PE within the College.

A Young Ambassador’s role is to:

  • increase participation and healthy lifestyles in their school
  • promote the positive values of sport in and through sport
  • be a role model in advocating PE and school sport
  • be the young people’s voice on PE and school sport in their schools and communities

There are 3,000 secondary Change4Life Sports Clubs across the country which focus on one of seven Olympic and Paralympic sports to introduce young people and inspire them to participate in a range of alternative school sports. The aim is to build a network of vibrant extracurricular clubs on the Swanmore College site that:

  • Meet the needs and aspirations of young people particularly in Year 7.
  • Help pupils to make the transition between primary & secondary school.
  • Train, deploy and give coaching experience to a workforce of Swanmore Colleges year 10 sports leaders.
  • Makes regular use of designated school facilities.
  • Develop the attitudes of secondary age pupils towards being healthy and active in their everyday lives.

Flames: Lighting the way

Swanmore students who are spending their year 10 Core PE Programme to qualify as a Level 1 Leader through “Sports Leaders Uk” would be advised take full advantage of this website which is an Olympic and Paralympic value driven programme. Sports Leaders are ideal to deliver this programme which is centred around physical activity and creating a positive and healthy lifestyle.

The British Heart Foundation National Centre and Loughborough College have developed the programme.

The key message to young sports leaders is that this website offers a wealth of resources that can be downloaded and utilised. Leaders can also order fantastic resource packs free of charge.
