Autumn Term 2009
Year 6 Viewing Days
Tuesday 6 October - Friday 9 October 9.20 am - 11.20 am
The college is hosting tours for Year 6 parents/pupils
If you live outside our designated area or your child does not attend one of our official feeder schools, please telephone the college office to request a prospectus and book a tour. Year 6 pupils who attend a Swanmore Pyramid feeder school will receive information via their school.
We look forward to welcoming you on both occasions.
Join us to see dynamic learning in action!
Year 5 Masterclasses – Summer Term
Year 5 pupils who attend our feeder schools come into college to partake in special lessons in a wide range of subjects, working with other pupils from their junior school.
We know from talking to the pupils how much these days help allay many fears about starting secondary school. Year 9 pupils organise and run the days so not only do the Year 5 pupils experience a range of lessons but they are also reassured by the kindness and helpfulness of the older pupils.
Year 6 Induction Day – Summer Term
Year 6 pupils from our feeder schools have a formal induction process with an Induction Day on the first Thursday in July at the end of Year 6. Year 6 pupils experience a full day of lessons and meet the other pupils who will be in their tutor group. Senior staff are available at the end of the day to meet parents and answer any questions.
The purpose of this day is to provide a fun and informative experience so that pupils feel fully prepared for the big step in September and can therefore relax and enjoy the summer holidays.
Special induction activities are planned for the first day of Year 7 to encourage pupils to make new friends and find their way around the college. As the Year 7 pupils arrive they are greeted by prefects and meet their new form tutor. Special tasks are planned so that by the end of the day not only do all pupils know their way around and recognise some friendly faces but they also know what is expected of them.
