Music
Pupils have access to three well-equipped music classrooms and are encouraged to use a variety of equipment to express their creative and performance skills through the exploration of a range of musical styles. Music is also popular in Key Stage 4 where Years 10 and 11 pupils can opt to follow a GCSE Music course. Here they can refine their general musical skills through specialising in composing, performing and listening activities. Beyond the classroom, the extended musical curriculum is vibrant and well supported. We have a large team of visiting peripatetic teachers who provide opportunities for pupils to learn most musical instruments and take singing lessons. We enhance this specialist tuition by implementing a variety musical opportunities to further develop musicianship. These activities currently include a choir, brass band, concert band, jazz band, string orchestra and percussion ensemble, all of which regularly take part in our termly concerts both in college and in the wider community.
