The Autumn term has been a busy one for MacArthur House. Since the House Officials were appointed in the first half term and the House Committee formed, they have been working really hard, designing the tickets and the programmes for the Christmas Production as well as running a raffle to raise money for charity.

Lydia Matthews, with the help of Lydia Rowswell and the Deputy House Captains have been busy organizing and running two MacArthur House competitions during Period 5 tutor time. The first one, “Crocodile River”, involved each House Group, split into 4 teams, with the aim to move the whole team from one end of the Sports Hall to the other and back again, using only 3 planks of wood, without touching the floor. All groups showed excellent team working skills and spirit, encouraging each other to do well.

The fastest House Group to complete the course was M5 who completed the challenge in a combined time of 27 minutes and 59 seconds. As winners of the overall competition, they are now proudly looking after Mr Mac the Meerkat. Other novelty winners were “The Funniest House Group” (M8) and “The Slowest House Group” (M1) whose combined time was an incredible 43 minutes and 54 seconds!

Whilst these groups have been competing on the “river” another competition has been taking place involving the Olympic Games. Each House Group has been given an Olympic year and they have to design a notice board themed around that year and country. The final judging for this competition took place on Thursday 8 December and in the end of term celebration assembly M5 was announced the winners. This means that they will be looking after Mr Mac the Meerkat for the first part of the new term in January.

MacArthur House would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2012.
