Governor Opportunities

BY IN Latest News, Parentmail

Dear Parent/Carer

An outstanding opportunity has arisen at Swanmore College, for us to recruit 3 new Governors to support the complex and demanding work of the current governing Body and the Senior Leadership Team as we strive to deliver “OUTSTANDING “ results for pupils.

We know pupils and parents expect us to deliver a challenging and aspirational education for all.

We know they expect and deserve outstanding results.

We know we have the potential to deliver that (OFSTED confirmed this in 2014).

However, we need additional help from you to ensure we have a strong, professionally influential Governing Body to support the Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff to deliver these outcomes.

Governor responsibilities are continually being reshaped. The best schools require the best Governance to ensure compliance and improvement are embedded in the culture of all that we do and are delivered.

If you can give up to 5 hours a week in term time (committee meetings are mainly held on Monday evenings 5 pm -7 pm) and are willing to commit to doing some real work to ensure we support the College in delivering its targets, then we would love to hear from you. Some of the tasks required include:

  • Consideration and agreement of the aims and policies of the College
  • Discussion and approval of the targets for improvement
  • Appointment of some Senior Leaders within the College
  • Agreeing and monitoring the budget
  • Monitoring the performance of the College through the analysis of data, ensuring stringent safeguarding processes are in place and applied diligently
  • Reporting to the parents and community on how tasks have been accomplished
  • Visiting the College, meeting with subject leaders and representing the College at public events

We are looking to recruit the skills of people in the community who have or have had experience in delivering high quality outcomes in for example (but not exclusively):

human resources management, employment law, environmental issues and policies, sustainability, property law, property maintenance and management, project management, special educational needs, working with gifted and talented pupils

Governors are the link between the College and the community. Representatives of all those with an interest in the well-being and reputation of the College are needed and are a vital part of our team.

Are you passionate about ensuring your local Secondary school provision is of the best quality it can be?

Are you passionate about ensuring the young people of your community are provided with an outstanding educational experience that will equip them with the sound academic and moral spring board they will need to ensure they succeed as adults?

Then we are passionate about hearing from you!

First class advice and support is available to you and FREE training for your new role, which can provide you with transferable skills for your career development.

Members of the Governing Body are very happy to talk to you if you require any further information.
