Friday 27 January is Holocaust
Memorial Day and every year, pupils from Year 9 are taken off timetable
to do a focused study about the Holocaust and also to look at the
Holocaust Memorial Trust’s specific topic for the year.
This year the topic is ‘Speak out against prejudice and
discrimination’. We will be
joined by a group of pupils from Fernhill School
in Farnborough who will be performing a theatre piece about Travellers
and prejudice, this work is supported by EMTAS, the Ethnic Minorities
and Travellers Achievement Service.
Every pupil will have an opportunity to see the performance and
to take part in a classroom based activity.
Pupils will also learn about Judaism, Ghettoes, Battalion
101 and a story from the period.
Every pupil will attend 4 sessions. The morning will be delivered largely
by Humanities teachers.
If you have any questions about this event please do not
hesitate to contact me at the college.
