Your child has recently received their
Maths mock exam results and I hope that they have discussed them with
you. A decision now needs to made as to whether your child wishes to
sit the the Additional Maths Examination. Their GCSE maths result is
obviously of paramount importance and we would not want it to be
compromised by the additional work involved in sitting the Additional
Maths Examination.
Therefore, we are asking pupils to decide whether they
wish to continue with the course or concentrate on their GCSE.
Of course the Additional Maths scheme of work does provide
them with valuable experience of the type of maths that would be
covered at A Level and past pupils have indicated that completing the
course was very useful when they went on to College.
It is anticipated that the class will continue to work
together on the GCSE syllabus. Where appropriate the Add maths pupils
will be extended on to the topics for the Additional Maths Examination.
Would you please discuss this with your child and return
the slip below to either Mr Culverhouse or myself by Friday 13 January 2012
Yours sincerely
G Brown (Miss)
