Attenborough House is named after Sir David Attenborough (born 1926), who is best known for his work and studies of the planet we live on and his role within the medium of television.
Sir David received his knighthood in 1985 and in April 2005 he was awarded the Order of Merit by the Queen, which recognises exceptional distinction in the arts, sciences and other areas.
The aim of Attenborough House is to use Sir David as its role model and to produce citizens who care about each other and the world around them.
Attenborough House has adopted a monkey as its logo in order to directly reflect Sir David’s work with gorillas and monkeys which has so inspired and captivated the public’s interest on so many levels for so many years.
The Attenborough House Motto
The motto displays the work ethos of the pupils and also the expectations of the House members to behave and to respect the Swanmore Community.
The House is committed to making a difference not only in the local community, but also at a nationally and global level.
Attenborough House puts a strong emphasis on the importance of child development and care, and in particular the need to enjoy and achieve.
Achievement in all aspects of the Attenborough pupils’ experience is valued as an asset to the House.
