A message from the Headteacher
It is with immense pride that I congratulate the Year 11 pupils for a record set of GCSE results – our best ever. The exceptional performance across the College is down to the hard work and dedication of our pupils, staff and parents, and it is no surprise that our results have improved year on year since the introduction of the 3 year Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
There are so many outstanding examples of success, but we are particularly pleased with the achievements of the pupils in English and Maths, as they were the first cohort of pupils to sit the new-style grade 9-1 GCSEs.
76% of pupils achieved 5 A* – C including English and Maths, our best ever results, highlighting three consecutive years of above average Progress and Attainment figures.
In addition, the core subjects of English, Maths and Science all achieved a staggering 86% A* – C equivalent.
Another area of outstanding achievement in 2016-2017 relates to the performance of boys versus girls – a gender gap that continues to be a national phenomenon. I am delighted to say that our gap has shrunk to 3%, with 74% of boys achieving 5 A* – C including English and Maths, compared to 77% of girls.
Pupils are thriving in our learning community, and we will continue to be robust and successful as we work together to make 2017-18 another record breaking year.
